People with similar artistic sensitivities, wanting to play, naturally get together to form a band. Initially, there is an ideal driving them forward. As any business venture, when members do not set a clear goal to achieve, as a band, in the long run, they will eventually fail to keep the group together. A band is a living organism made up of individuals who have invested time and energy in the creation of the band. There are 6 reasons why a band might cease business and break up. 

• Unresolved conflicts will slowly erode the passion to play together and melt the fundamental bonding glue holding a band together. A difference of opinions of where the band should go, and play is a definite stop to the future progress of the band. 
• There is the problem of egos clashing. The alpha male instinct kicked in when there are many women, and fame transformed into a kind of power trip. Thus, a band must have a good leader that can keep the pack together.
• Drugs and excess alcohol have also an overall negative effect on relationships and artistic collaboration. Toxicities prevail and the band is open to all kind of insanities. People make mistakes under the influence of any drugs and sometimes died. Led Zeppelin never recovered from the death its drummer. 
• The most vicious case of breaking up is caused by the hidden influence. In endless and savage disputes, wars, there is always an unknown element, a person who has been, behind the scenes, pulling strings. it could be an unscrupulous businessman, a girlfriend, that is stirring up dirt and working up band members against each other without their full knowledge. The Beatles were certainly pulled apart by a third party. 
• Bands break up because of sex. In matter of fact, sex destroyed friendships and groups tearing them apart. 
• Lastly, bad management is also a potential cause leading to break ups. Cream for example were booked on gruelling touring schedule without breathing space. The overwork band was slowly falling apart, physically and mentally. They could no longer collaborate artistically as a band. It is to be noticed, that under such duress, band members develop dire dependencies on drugs to help them to cope. 

Many artists were needleless sacrificed under the duress they were put under. Collaboration collapsed and friendships severed overnight. A good manager or management could had perhaps savaged some bands and helped them resolved some basic human problems. Thankfully many artists, throughout their ups and downs, remained true to their original goal to bring soul shine to a worldwide audience because they understood that music was greater than themselves in assisting people to connect on a deeper level.
