Legacy of Music Pioneers: Lessons for New Artists

A note on creative artists. Many of our most celebrated artists are getting old. I am talking about artists who have impacted our society and put their own stamp on music, artists who have dared to be independent and stuck thin and thick with all the madness of a growing industry. They opened the door to the next generation to thrive. They were the pioneers.

Time has changed; the music industry has ceased to scout for talents. Social medias are here to stay and now artists have to wear their entrepreneurial hat to make themselves known. Creativity is taken a tumbled as now the age of AI is here to copy the past.

The true heroes were these pioneers who work with passion and purpose in their heart to keep plotting along. Some have done things differently, wanting to take the blues or jazz to the next level.  Pop music wanted to swallow up anybody daring to be different in their artistic endeavour.

What is the secret of longevity of these artists that persevered throughout the decades. Strength comes to mind, and purpose to keep the music as pure as possible. It is a hard call as even the big band, the Rolling Stones plays commercial music. The most influential band, the Beatles has no longer here to show us what they could have done in the now.   Would they be still as good as ever? We cannot say.  Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney are certainly enjoying their legacy. They are like Clapton enjoying playing for the sake of it.  Recently, Clapton has ignited more passion for the blues offering a master class in blues with each performance.  With his seasoned musician, he is inspiring the next generation to follow suit. The goal is still the same to create a positive effect, providing healing time and inspired budding musicians. The audience is coming from all ages now.

The passion of an artist is his purpose in life. It is a great fortune and an index regulating his health and ability to play in his old age.  A creative individual motivated by his passion is thought to be in a better mental and physical condition than an individual who is not using his imagination. A creative mind can overcome many obstacles. Lord knows the effort it takes to go on tour for someone aging. It takes lots of energy and commitment to follow one’s path. At the end, it is better to keep moving and keep creating.

The best representative of the power of the creative mind is looking at how these seasoned artists in their seventies / eighties have still got it. That’s tells us a lot about how the imagination can flow and break barriers.  Do all you can be keep your imagination as young as a child. It is working for all of us.
